Resumen
The objective of the research was to evaluate the potential in bird tourism for ecotourism development in the Tingo María National Park (PNTM). The type of research was field, descriptive correlational level, non-experimental design, transectional. The unit of analysis were the many national, local and foreign tourists over 18 years old; a questionnaire was used to collect data, subject to reliability using Cronbach’s alpha, with a sample of 383 visitors. The hypothesis test between avitourism and ecotourism development indicates a bilateral significance of 0.000, this being less than 0.05, in this sense the research hypothesis is approved; since a Spearman correlation coefficient of 0.538 is observed, this being moderate. It is concluded that if there is an adequate level of ecotourism development in the Tingo María National Park, the avitourism represents an alternative conservation because it can be carried out in protected areas, allowing the coexistence of the space dedicated to conservation and the human population settled in said space.
